In general, self in psychology has two meanings, the first is self is behavior and feeling of individual on him/herself. And the second, self is all psychological process that ruled behavior and adaptation. The first meaning self is looked as an object, in this way of meaning self is what an individual thinking about him/herself. The second meaning looks self as a process, Self is consist of many active process like thinking, remembering, learning, hearing, etc. both of this meanings is not purely a human in nature way. This theories of self isn’t something that is used if we looked in way of religion or methaphysist. It’s direct into object of psychological process itself, and that process was ruled by law of cause. In other words, this theories is used when we sees it in scientific psychology way. The theories of self shows a true effort to seek the symptoms and make conception from the research that has conducted about behavior of individual.

The self theories that we had speak is to make clear about the topics that we will talk about. If we seen the self theories in paragraph above, we will make a quick thinking about the perception of our self. How do we look our self is very important for us to make us more competent in many aspects. Example, how can men can cook if they keep thinking cook is only for woman ?, and how can we speak in front of many people when we keep thinking that we are lacks of intelligence in linguistics ?. it is why there are many success person that always have positive thinking in him/herself. If we perceiving about our self in negative ways, the result will be negative. ”you are what you thinking”, “you are what you eat”, and “you are what you read” is a popular phrase in psychology saying that human was evaluated by their behavior. In psychology, there are theories called by “Trait Theories”. Trait theories state that personality consist of broad, enduring dispositions that tend to lead to characteristics responses. In other words, people can be described in terms of basic ways they behave, such as wether they are outgoing and friendly or dominant and assertive. People’s behavior sometimes unpredictable, we can’t decide directly what people are do with our logical thinking. If we see someone crying, the first perception that we think to that people is he/she was sad. Except sad, people can crying because he/she was very happy, or he got dust in his/her eyes. So, we must make our self individual perception not by people’s eyes, but we make it on our own. By this way of thinking, there are many successful person was created. But the fact is, there are many people who still follow the trends of the world not selecting what is good and bad for him/herself.

If we talk about self individual perception, we must include the self -esteem theories from Abraham Maslow. Self-esteem is a person’s overall evaluation of his or her worth self-worth or self image. Maslow said that self-esteem is very important aspects in a human personality. Self esteem is strongly related to happiness, and it seems likely that self esteem can increases happiness. High-self esteem is a category that encompasses people who deserve their high self-esteem and are well adjusted, as well as individuals who are narcissistic, defensive, and conceited. Another theories from Abraham Maslow is Self Actualization, It is a theories that can’t be separated fro Maslow’s Hierarchy of Human Needs. Self Actualization is the highest and most elusive of Maslow’s needs, it is the motivation to develop one’s full potential as a human being. According to Maslow, self actualization is possible only after the other needs in the hierarchy are met. In the humanistic perspectives way, Psychologist said that the key of personality is that the way we perceive ourselves and the world around us. Humanistic psychologists also reminded us that we need to consider the whole person and the positive bent of human nature. But, this perspectives of psychology has some weakness that they are difficult to test. Self Actualization, for example, is not even clearly defined much less easy to observe.

Perception of self individual is an important thing that we must make and sees. In fact, there are still many people who believes that the process of finding identity was in teens in human development. If we evaluates the theories of self actualization and self esteem, we can conclude that perception of self individual was create in complex process. There are many factors that every people has different chances to perceive him/herself . but, the most important is, how can we make it better in perceiving our self in positives way, the results will be positives.
